What would you do?

Howdy

What would you do with 60K in 3 months.
Rather than park it in the offset, I'd like to actively invest.
We'll be ready to buy in 3 months so money needs to be fairly liquid.
I've traded shares previously and done quite well.
Moderate risk factor( to make it worthwhile having it away from offset)

Cheers

I'd actually hold it within offset. Even if you do well and increase it by 10% within 3 months you've only made a pre-tax profit of 10%, whereas there is the potential to also decrease this balance.

Alternatively you can secure a safe return of interest savings within your offset and spend the time researching how to best use these funds in 3 months time.

Just a thought, as I've seen many a persons savings be eroded by attempts to invest short term whilst saving.

Sigh... yea was going to do this any ways.. Either that or head to the casino and have a big bet on Red :):)
I actually told my partner this and the look on her face was priceless.

I am sure if you check your inbox there is a Nigerian politician that needs to use a bank account that promises you a huge return. That way you don't have to drive to the casino to lose all your money. :)

I would go with the Off-set account.

With a moderate risk factor over 3 months, about the only type of investment that suits this scenario is a savings account (offset account), or a term deposit.

Once you look into the entry - exit costs 60k for 12 weeks in the equities markets and if the units hold their value you could always work out one that pays a div above 9% in between the 12 week period,or the safe way is fixed term at below 3.75%..imho..

I would park it in an Offset account (pref attached to principle residence). Since interest paid on mgt not tax deductable.
