Turn it up and there'll be a label stamped on the underside.

Meter box would be a good start. Might have termite mesh installation date, or even when the meter box or power was connected.

Nevermind I msged council. hope through their website. hopefully they will let me know.

Phone your electricity supplier, give them the meter number and they can tell you when the place was originally commissioned.

Ive done it numerous times.

Where's scientist when you need him? You could apply carbon dating to work out the age of the house. Check the rate of differential settlement of road dust on the roof and compare that to newer houses in the street.

FL - the council website may have a section on development approval where you can put in the address and get the DA dates.

If all else fails, a quantity surveyor will be able to determine something very close to the build date.
