Which Colors To Paint House?

Thinking of something like this: http://www.dulux.com.au/media/1195877/parkdale_extweatherboard_037.jpg

But with a medium/dark grey roof and gutters.

For this house, I did a patch test of a slightly darker grey than the one in the above pic. Pic attached.

So the light grey walls, white facia, white railings, white awnings, and the medium grey roof.

How do you reckon that would look?

Any other ideas?

I think you need more than a coat of paint to get it to look like that mate !

Colours are fine, just needs some cosmetic work first :)

The rendered brick single pillar in the 2nd pic seems a little out of place?
Does it serve a purpose?

I'll make sure I pass on your complaints to the neighbour. Will give me some ammo if they come at me for waking them up at 4am in the morning by dropping a house on the block next door to them.

As for the purpose, by the looks of it, it's purpose is to give the tree root something to knock over...

Check what the street, area, upmarket well maintained properties look like there and do similar. Unless you hire a colour consultant I wouldn't be guessing.
IMO, paint the walls darker colour to contract the windows and awnings, etc....

if you are going to keep it, air conditioning is much more $ than painting light colors

I'm actually ripping all the air cons out.

It's a share house and paying the aircon bills for the house would be crazy.

The house had 9 air conditioners in it, imagine the power bills I would have to cover!

Putting ceiling fans in instead. There's not even one fan in the house currently.

i saw 'a few' aircons in the pics, :)
I think the traditional gal silver roof and light walls, has more purpose than the current fashionable colors

So which colour for the roof? The darker one or the lighter one?

Lighter one for sure. Less heat, less fans used, less power bill for sharehouse slumlords to pay :)

Trying to appeal to the slumlord in me...I love it :)

See 9/10 people I've asked so far have gone for the darker roof.

Problem is my wife likes the lighter one.

I prefer the darker one.

Hmmm compromise....

What do you think of the deep ocean color?

Wife's reply to that suggestion "nah"...

Oh no.
