Workshop - Financial Freedom for Women

Financial Freedom for Women Workshops

NEW workshop dates:
Tuesday 5th October 6 - 9pm
Monday 1st November 9.30 am - 1pm

Seven years ago my Dad got very sick, and in order to take care of our family's finances, I began a journey of wealth creation. That was when I was worth $30,000, and now my net worth is just over $1,000,000!! (Yay!)

What I've found is that taking control of my finances has given me a new level of choice in both my career and my life; I'm more in control of how I spend my time; and I have a greater sense of autonomy; which are all things that many of us are looking for these days.

You may be thinking it is a hard path to take, but everything that I did has been done many times before. In fact, I learnt it all from other people, and it really wasn't very hard.

On the above dates I'm holding a three hour "Financial Freedom For Women Workshop" at my office in St Kilda. If you'd like to attend, or know someone who would like to, please give Nathalie a call on 03 9534 3722 or email [email protected]

The cost is $50 per seat. To make sure that we have a friendly, open environment, the numbers will be limited.

Cheers, Medine.

Melbourne - Financial Freedom for Women Workshop

Hi,

There are still seats available for our next Workshop, on the 1st of November. You can contact our office on 03 9534 3722 if you're interested in more details.

Cheers, Medine.

Medine,

Do you intend actually contributing to this forum, or do you intend using it only as a cheap way of advertising your seminars?

Aceyducey

What's the point?

Hi Acey Ducey,

I work as a Mortgage Broker. When I read the forum I find that I usually can't add anything to Rolf's posts. Which is great, because he mentored me in to the business, is one of my heroes ;) . I have a great deal of respect for his knowledge and contribution to the forum and I respect that by not being too active on the forum :) . So, no, probably not unless Rolf leaves us.

Cheers, Medine

Hi Medine

You titled your response to AceyDucey's query of whether you intend to contribute to the forum or just post random advertisments for your seminars as "What's the point?"

The point is that you would establish yourself as a credible investor and/or speaker with the appropriate skills and experience to warrant attendance by other forumites and for people to pay to come and hear you share your skills and experience.

Not surprisingly, when Rolf Latham or Rolf Shaeffer,Steve Navra, Peter Spann or even Julie & Simon Macks advertise when they are holding sessions, then people sit and up listen and they pay good money to come along and hear them speak.

Until then, alas, you remain an "unknown quantity" and I believe the latin "Caveat Emptor" would apply to all who are reading your posts.

I am sure you mean well though and all the best.

Kind regards

Corsa

Hi Medine,

If Rolf selected you as a mentor then there is some quality about you worth knowing about.

Maybe you could explain how your paths crossed, what drove you to become a broker, add some stories about the kind of tricky applications you've successfully processed, etc, etc.

Every person here has a story, simply telling us how (and why) they found this forum is a story in itself.

Regards
Michael

Hi Michael,

Yes, Rolf's a sensational teacher (as we know from the forum), and I have been truly blessed to benefit from his wisdom :) !

Rolf and I hooked up when I was looking for a broker who understood investing. At the time I was an IT executive, and used a broker to save time when financing my property investments, and in the process had been hindered in my investing by well meaning brokers who didn't understand my investing strategy  .

By the time Rolf visited me in Melbourne I had taken a package from corporate Australia, and was looking for a new opportunity. After a long afternoon of sharing ideas Rolf suggested that I join the broking industry, and it has turned out to be work that I've really loved :) ! Any job that you spend your day immersed in people's investing strategies is okay by me ;) .

When I started it was really hard to find a broker that understood investing, but now (as we know from the forum) there are many around. But more and more, my female clients and friends were asking me to tell them more about myself. So, I put together a workshop to tell my story in a non-hype, non-threatening environment that will hopefully show other ladies that you don't have to be special or even particularly clever to look after your finances :) !

Cheers, Medine.

The rest of the answer.......

Hi Michael,

I just re-read your post and realised that I didn't answer your question:
"add some stories about the kind of tricky applications you've successfully processed, etc, etc."

We specialise in complex deals. Typically our clients are on investment property 3 or 4, corporate executives who don't have time to work out the best deal/structure, hybrid trust, family trust or corporate trust owners, self employed and/or low-doc clients.

Phew! That sounds like hard work - but all good work for the grey matter ;)

Cheers, Medine.

Hrmmm Im a bit disappointed as well - I held off commenting initially.

But I just read your whats the point? comment...

The point is you just lost quite a few ppl who could have provided you with referrals.

Hopefully Ive just misunderstood the "spirit" of your posting.

Clarification

Hi XBenX,

I've just re-read your your post and I'm concerned about "the spirit" with which you have interpreted my comment. I may have misunderstood.

Please don't think that I read the forum for "free" and think that it is not worth contributing to. I have chosen not to contribute in the past in order to not step on Rolf's toes.

I posted the details of my workshop here because I personally know a lot of forum dwellers and thought they might be intereste to know what I am doing.

Since Acey Ducey's comments, Rolf has in fact encouraged me to be more active on the forum, which you will see I am now doing. (Which is a great example of Rolf's supportive abundance mentality)

I hope this is more clear now.

Cheers, Medine.

Medine,

And it's a good thing too.

I don't see how Rolf would feel you'd be stepping on his toes by posting in a public forum - and frankly I've never thought that Rolf's that kind of person.

Cheers,

Aceyducey

Medine,

Fair enough if you feel you don't wish to step on Rolf's toes professionally- but please feel free to contribute out of any other areas of investing or life experience.

Hi all,

Medine,
I too would like you to contribute more to the forum. If you feel that you can charge $50 for people to a seminar on "Financial Freedom For Women Workshop" , then surely you could offer more than information on mortgage broking.

Or is the whole seminar about how the women can use their assets to leverage up into property (using a good mortgage broker of course).

The general concept on this forum from my perspective, is that those who post about their methodology on a fairly regular basis, tend to get a fair bit of free advertising and recomendations to do their courses. The opposite is also true. Those who start in the forum by advertising their wares, tend to get lambasted by the regulars. So please don't think that anyone is picking on you in particular.

I look forward to your regular contributions on your investment strategies/experience/knowledge.

bye

I think you guys need to ease up on Madine a bit. Whilst she doesn't directly contribute to this forum directly, she has made significant contributions to forum members who are in Melbourne.

Madine has contributed significantly to various groups in and around Melbourne. She's worked closly with many forum regulars, some of whom are moderators. Her opinions are highly regarded by those who know her.

Just because someone isn't known to you on the forum, doesn't mean that they're not known by other members of the forum. If someone doesn't contribute because it's already been said, I thank them for not adding a whole lot of 'noise' to the forum - which happens here quite a lot IMHO.

My only question for Madine is, can men attend too?

PT,

My apologies not knowing that Medine has contributed to the Melbourne community. I hadn't realised that, and it's good that she does so.

But the strong impression that was left for many was that very little was given back to this forum in return for the promotions which were made.

Many members of the forum gain financial benefit from the forum, but they also give a lot. And many give with no financial benefit at all.

I thought that Bill's reply was quite fair and reasonable. We aren't picking on Medine in particular. But we would prefer that people who have something to offer professionally have something to show of what they have to offer. That way, it's a win win. We learn more from their expertise, and they are more likely to pick up business. If Medine is offering a seminar on financial independence on this forum, people who know what she is about will be much more likely to attend than people who have heard little.

Men, too!

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your kind words of support :) !

You're not the first person to ask for an all gender workshop - so we've scheduled one for the 11th of December. All I talk about is my investing story - so I'm not sure what someone as experienced with investing as yourself will learn from me ;) . Regardless, it would be great to see you there - and you'll be glad to hear that there's very little about finance in the content :) !!

Cheers, Medine.

PT - IMHO whoever Medine is outside of this forum isnt the point.

Id make a comment if Adam Smith came on here pushing his seminars and hadnt made a contribution Id still look at it cynically... and question the motives behind the post.

Medine has started to make contributions. That's appreciated. Let's leave it at that for now.
