Writing a will and legacy advice..

Hi all

My dad is looking for a recommendation for writing a will, can you suggest a lawyer that can do this in the eastern suburbs? It is probably to be straight forward, however he is also looking for some legacy advice ( gifting etc). Is there a recommendation for a professional that can do both, or do you recommend he see an accountant for the legacy planning? I haven't much idea about this side of things, however I am told it is like throwing money away if planning is not done and no will made up?

Thank you

Jesus. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. It's just a will, every half-decent lawyer can do it.

If your dad is looking for advice on gifting and wanting advice on avoiding tax and Centrelink implications then he would benefit from seeing a Centrelink adviser or a financial planner. If it is simply wanting to direct certain property to certain people or setting up a testamentary trust then a solicitor is all that is required. But don't skimp. My parents set up a TT and found out years later that it was not right (according to the solicitor who did their next will).

I work with a solicitor who also includes a financial advice component and specialises in wealth protection for older people. I don't have the number on my at home, but send a reminder and tomorrow and I'll PM the details.

Name is Grant McKenzie at Phillips & Wilkins Solicitors.
