The requirements in QLd now is batts for walls and ceilings.
The certifier has requested us to install batts in roof (no.3 ) in our IP reno house.
More cost but I suppose it will work out in the end. The interest rates are on the way down .

Just a reminder if building a set of stairs there are 2 standards in QLD. building code and building standards. I had big problems with my IP reno.
Got them built to the building standards and the certifier wouldn't pass same. Had to get another one built to the building...

Is there a formula for working out what would be a fair rent for an IP?
With interest rates moving North one must try to get a reasonable return for one's investment.

is correct . Please have a pre purchase inspection report carried out by a tradesman. There r some traps in buyer beware and suffe the consequences.
The councils in QLD R getting very strict and there is a possibly of a fine if specs aren't followed.

I hope interest rates doesn't go to 16 - 18 % as they did in the 80s.
If this happens it will sort us out. Would make living on a tight budget interesting.

Must have a building inspection done , My builder charges $220.00 for a written report. then u know what has to be done to bring it up to scratch. Last IP we purchased the report showed the car port wasn't cleared by the council , so the vendors had to fix that up before the sale went ahead...
