    Gas supply

We had this done in Queensland. It didn't cost us anything to have a trench dug from one side of the road (where the gas main is) to our property. Main thing was that we did need to have it connected to both a cooker and hot water system (which we wanted anyway). Nothing better than cooking on...

    Interest free offers from retailers

I got in touch with them, and our monthly repayments of 350 are now reducing the newer balance first, meaning that we will have paid of the 700 in two months, and still have 18 months interest free on the kitchen. Took one call. Should be fixed now!

    Interest free offers from retailers

We went down this road (for an Ikea kitchen as well) when our bank didn't want to lend us any more and we needed to finish our renovation. We financed at 95% + LMI, and had a hefty personal loan on top for the reno. This way, we made sure we could do the bathroom while the house was gutted, so...

School catchment area in RE ad

Hi guys, Just throwing it out there to see whether it would make a difference to you. We recently bought a property and renovated it. This property is in a very desirable catchment area (primary school though). The catchment area has recently been tightened, meaning that some houses that...

My son -where to buy for his uni

My parents did the same for me when I was at uni. It was a hard learning experience and I lost one of my best friends due to being his landlord... Having said that, they still own the apartment 17 years later and are happy they kept it. More to the point, have a look at the Central Park...

    Refinance possible

Funny you say that, a broker I spoke to before going straight to BOQ provided pre-approval up to 525k. We needed around 550k. BOQ was happy to go even higher if needed. I got the tip from a REA in our area to talk straight to the BOQ branch manager and both my wife and I were very happy with the...

    Refinance possible

Home loan is with BOQ, personal loan with NAB. Marty, as indicated all financing was based on single income, even though we now have two. Even in the current scenario we can save approximately 2.5k per month, if we would want (meaning we could potentially pay off the personal loan quite a bit...

    Refinance possible

Thanks guys, will give our bank a call once the renos are 100% complete. Which will probably be after the personal loan has been repaid ;-)

    Refinance possible

Hi people, I think I know the answer to this, but would still like to throw it out here to see whether I may be wrong. We bought a PPOR in June last year, run down house (ex-rental) in good suburb. It's our first home. Wife works part time, 2 kids. Wife wasn't working when we bought it, so...

    Brisbane: Indooroopilly and surrounding suburbs

Also, check the development plans for the site next door to the Lambert road unit... It seems something is going to go up there very soon. May or may not be a good thing.

    Brisbane: Indooroopilly and surrounding suburbs

Mind you: Lambert Road is a terrible road to live on (in my opinion), since all the school traffic to St Peters is basically bumper to bumper from 7am onwards, and then again from 2pm. When I pass there around 6pm there's always still a lot of traffic. Plus bus routes pass through Central...

    Quick reno

We had been looking at this property: http://house.ksou.cn/p.php?q=Graceville&sta=qld&id=443725 Sold in July for 335k, back on the market now for (it seems) between 550 and 600k (although since it will go for auction it may end up anywhere...)...

    Our rental to PPOR reno

Yep, we love the windows too! House was built in the 1950s. It's been under water to about 2m over the floorboards, unfortunately, which means some water damage to them. We hope polishing them may bring them back to life a bit! I'll upload more photos once the plasterboard goes on this week...
