Suggestions for Chimney breast in kitchen

I had a similar problem in my place (1880’s Victorian). Solution is to remove the whole chimney: The whole process took 4 hours with me and the bricklayer. Get onto the roof with a baby sledge hammer and remove the chimney. Slowly work your way down until the chimney is removed. Once...

RBA To Raise Rates 3 More Times, Says ANZ

I wouldn't worry about CPI. Have a look at the increased money supply in Australia. http://www.economist.com/markets/indicators/displaystory.cfm?story_id=9995449&CFID=23382827&CFTOKEN=59019974 This is the real inflation rate.

    Are you balance sheet affluent?

I’m not sure how you can class one person with the same amount of net assets as another less financially successful. At the end of the day they both have $500,000. The second person could just as well go out the next day and borrow $500,000 and buy a property for the same amount. Has that made...

    What would you do.....................?

Other option is just to extend the house out back by another 20 - 30sqm. This would turn the place into a 4 bedroom property. I'm not sure of the cost but it might be worth extending out back as when it comes time to sell I will more.

    "and or nominee..."

Steve, Bought a property last month. I couldn't sign the contract as I was interstate. I had my significant other place her name on the contract and/or nominee. The conveyancer has drawn up a document and the title will now be in both our names. The catch is that you have to pay stamp duty on...

PPOR at this stage. Im going to as much DIY as I can. I'm budgeting about 8-10k for the kitchen using Laminex Readikit Modular Kitchen Solutions. Approximatly 10k for all the demo work and cutouts. Plus 5k for any new doors and windows. (Hopefully secure at trade prices) Bathroom...

    What would you do.....................?

Bathroom is the thin long bit (1450mm x 3650mm) behing the first bedroom on the right. We are thinking a decking out the back (full length) which is level with the house. This would allow good use of the bi-fold doors out the back and great a nice open feel in summer.

Hey Guy’s I’ve recently purchased (still waiting for settlement) an 1880’s symmetrical cottage. I’m just throwing some ideas around for the best design and use of space. My current plan is to remove the rear lean-to and bring the house back to its original 4 walls. Bring the bathroom...

I recently purchase a property (still waiting for settlement) in Eastwood. Nice 1880’s symmetrical cottage. I have been attending a few auctions around the place and checkout auction results to workout a value for my place once I have done a full renovation. I noticed the Hazelwood Property...

    Moving Bathroom and Toilet inside

I spotted this place on the web in Richmond. http://www.domain.com.au/Public/PropertyDetails.aspx?adid=2006412736 I think it represents a good price however the only problem is the toilet and bathroom are outside. My initial idea was to extend the rear of the house and bring in the...

Reaching new heights - Inner Melbourne

I currently live in Adelaide and plan on purchasing an inner city property within the next 3 months. I haven’t had a chance to attend any auctions personally however I do try and track the sales. I generally keep a copy of the Saturday Age and as the properties get auctioned off I compare the...
