Homes officially out of reach for under 35's

Exactly, we should have more freedom to do as we please with out housing blocks(within a little reason obviously). Current state, it is ridiculous. I know of a council in Sydney, about 10kms out of the CBD which increased its minimum block size for a dual occupancy recently from 650 I think to...

Homes officially out of reach for under 35's

I definetly think that councils need a big over haul in Australia. Quite simply we should be allowed to duplex/townhouse/granny flat/small block of flats build a lot cheaper than we currently can. Land use is way to strict and min block sizes need reducing in many council areas.(IMO)...

Homes officially out of reach for under 35's

Apologies. Got muddled with the multiple posters quoting. Still I would be slightly concerned. A lot of people "assume" they will climb the corporate ladder and get the payrises they want, (or say small business owners assume their business will take off etc). Your second couple, they are...

Homes officially out of reach for under 35's

I think a couple of things. first is expecting a HL to be at 6% for the life of it(30 years)?? , second is using a % of gross income to define affordablity.(last time I checked home loan payments on a PPOR came out after tax not before). Third, these guys(your employees?) are nurses. Arent...

Homes officially out of reach for under 35's

Question on number 2, Not struggling? 105K P/A approx 75Kpa after tax I imagine would be reasonably generous.(with family tax benefit). Repayments on 460K mortgage? 32K just in interest.(let alone any principal) so if they tip in a tiny bit more to actually pay down some debt and half of...

Homes officially out of reach for under 35's

Homes are not out of reach for the under 35 year old. But they might be out of reach to be paid of fully by retirement.(assuming they are average earners, want kids, the odd holiday etc etc). My story. I bought an inner city apartment in Sydney 5-6 years ago after having to rent my whole...
