Luce, the thing that pushed me to retire at 30 was that I was actually aiming for 33... for the quite simple reason that it rhymes! Financially free by 33. I found that this rhyme got stuck in my head and helped me a lot. Or maybe yours can be "Feeling alive by 35" :)

I would call that retirement, but I guess the term is different for everyone. For me it doesn't mean sitting on my a** playing bingo all week. It means doing what I want, when I want, and not worrying about the next paycheque. And yes for me, part of having fun will be shopping for houses...
