5 night Adelaide to Adelaide road trip??

Suggestions please

Hubby and I are looking at doing a road trip around the Adelaide area. Flying in and out of Adelaide.

We will be able to have 5nts/6days away... what to see where to stay?

Would like to see wineries(Baroosa), Maggie Beers place, Hahndorf, Horse Tram Victor Harbor, and Adelaide city itself.

Any suggestions on the route to take? We will have a hire car and are thinking easter next year, but possibly this Christmas although I reckon it will be too hot in January.

Jan / Feb often very hot in Adelaide - if you can't cope with dry heat, best to choose another time of year.

Most of the locations you've mentioned are an easy day trip out of Adelaide, could even base yourself in or near the city and just travel out from there.

Some good information on this site about self-drive holidays around SA:

http://www.southaustralia.com/shorts-holidays.aspx

Online "Shorts" book: http://southaustralianshorts.realviewdigital.com/#folio=OFC ... this is a great resource for things to do, places to visit, where to eat and where to stay.

If you like wine - don't forget the Clare Valley, well worth a visit and some great food in that area too.

Awesome. Thanks Sim. That will give us loads to look at

Also the local Automobile club have some regional maps that include tourist stops.
RAA shop

RAA Fleurieu Peninsula Map (for Victor)

RAA Adelaide Hills Map (for Hahndorf)

RAA Barossa Valley Map (for the wineries and Maggie's)

Victor is south of Adelaide while the Barossa is north and Hahndorf is just a short drive from Adelaide in the middle. IMHO Hahndorf is a day trip destination.

You could go Adelaide to Victor, back to Adelaide/Hahndorf take the scenic route to the Barossa from Hahnorf, then back to Adelaide, or vice versa.
Maybe a couple of nights in Victor and a couple in the Barossa, or one night in Victor two in town and 2 nights in the Barossa.
Decisions decisions.
