Adelaide falters

Like the other capitals, Adelaide has fallen victim to apartment blight, mostly in early brutalist style - that boxy, generic, more-gloss-than-content 'architecture' that's become so familiar anywhere there used to be a space. No, I don't like them much.

Interesting though that a genuine 'warehouse' development (with basic gloss) adjacent to my office in a trendy cbd location was initially offered at $550k per townhouse in Jan/Feb dropping to $480k in April. And now, only a couple of weeks later, the developer is looking for offers around $380k.

Nearby in inner-city Unley, upmarket but not prestigious, and where many of Adelaide's sought after character homes can be found, rejected offers are not being achieved at auction. And sellers are routinely getting $20k to $30k less for their properties. Since March!
