As you know there was a serious process of peace negotiations during the last five years in Cyprus. At the end of these nagotiations both north and south sides agreed to go to a referandum by the support of EU, USA, and UN. The referaundum of Annan Plan took place in Cyprus on 24/04/2004. Howevere despite the Turkish side supported the plan by the majority of %65, the Greeks does not seem to be interested to unify the island again and refused to accept the plan by %76.
After this point, all of the world strong commities as I mentioned above gave their full support to North Cyprus and ask their investor to go and invest in North Cyprus. This investment has started with property market. Many people from Europe and Israil came and invest in to the island.
The reason I am giving you this information is to make things more clear about the situation in Cyprus.
North Cyprus has an increasingly European population during last few years. Most of this population are from U.K. However, there are a lot of other nations citizens who came here either for invest or to live here. These people are from Germany, Isreal, Turkey, USA, etc... They think that the best investment to the North Cyprus is built hotels and run them by the support of its Casinos.
But the other investment opportunuties I am talking about is to buy to sell/let properties like luxury villas. As an example our construction company has built newly completed 19 superlux villas on the coast line. These villas have private beach and the price is 155000. If you check the records you will see that the villa prices has doubled since 2002 and it is expecterd to be doubled within next 3-5 years. Also you would have another opportunity like buy to let the villas. On peak season which is from april to october (we still have 28 degrees celsius today!!!) you could let a villa from 400pound a week. If you are not satisfied with these options you have another option to buy and sell the plots of lands. We sold a land at the end of the 2003 with the price of 104000pound and the same land costs around 169000pound now.
Like I said at the begining there are lots of investment opportunities in North Cyprus. I tried to present you the some of the options you may have. If you are seriously interested we can get in touch and I can inform you more about the market.

I would be cautious about investing in the north , A lot of people fled to the south during the civil conflict, you would have to be sure the property you buy will not be reclaimed at a later date by a returning landowner.

I would not invest i dollar, in your case pound, in northern cyprus
as the state of northern cyprus in only reconised by one country turkey...
the refugees from those areas still hold the deeds to the land,and therfore there will be many "legal problems" when they {finally} reach a solution with cyprus. I have been there before and heard the argument of both sides, and let me tell you the {northern side) is very undeveloped and very 3rd world....
id hate to see what the rental income would be there, let alone the capability property managers running it.....

in the end of the day the land/property for sale there is dead money.....

altough I strongly believe that you are a fanatic greek or a greek supporter, Im not going to discuss with you about what you have written about North Cyprus.
but for the people who is interested to invest, I will try to give more evidence about the benefits of 'investing in to North Cyprus'.
in the last two years $4bn foreign investment has poured into North Cyprus by nearly 9000 overseas buyers. Market specialists expect these to leap spectacularly over the next few years as ever increasing numbers of people continue to wake up to the unmatched opportunities in the region. all of the new built properties have developed according to the Annan Plan, which is the only solution on the table for Cyprus issue. Reclaim of these properties by Greeks are 'definetely impossible' as all the lands are belongs Turks or had the right to built permission from the Turkish Government. The government here guarentees any losses of the investors. Property buyers relocating here are able to enjoy an exceptionally high standard of living at a fraction of the cost of other destinations in Europe. luxury hotels, golf courses, high-class casinos, night clubs, bars, historical places are only few of many attractions in North Cyprus.
after the peace negotiations in 2000, the people who came and visit the island, especially the Greeks, were shocked about the lifestyle of Turkish Cypriots.
and finally, I have to say that the North side of the island is an unspoilt heaven if you compare with Greek side as you can come and witness it by your eyes.
I am not and I dont want to be in a position to argue about the Cyprus issue here but if the investors 'really interested to know about what is going on the island at the moment' they are free to research and witnesses about the positon of North Cyprus, especially after 2000.
