As you know there was a serious process of peace negotiations during the last five years in Cyprus. At the end of these nagotiations both north and south sides agreed to go to a referandum by the support of EU, USA, and UN. The referaundum of Annan Plan took place in Cyprus on 24/04/2004. Howevere despite the Turkish side supported the plan by the majority of %65, the Greeks does not seem to be interested to unify the island again and refused to accept the plan by %76.
After this point, all of the world strong commities as I mentioned above gave their full support to North Cyprus and ask their investor to go and invest in North Cyprus. This investment has started with property market. Many people from Europe and Israil came and invest in to the island.
The reason I am giving you this information is to make things more clear about the situation in Cyprus.
North Cyprus has an increasingly European population during last few years. Most of this population are from U.K. However, there are a lot of other nations citizens who came here either for invest or to live here. These people are from Germany, Isreal, Turkey, USA, etc... They think that the best investment to the North Cyprus is built hotels and run them by the support of its Casinos.
But the other investment opportunuties I am talking about is to buy to sell/let properties like luxury villas. As an example our construction company has built newly completed 19 superlux villas on the coast line. These villas have private beach and the price is 155000. If you check the records you will see that the villa prices has doubled since 2002 and it is expecterd to be doubled within next 3-5 years. Also you would have another opportunity like buy to let the villas. On peak season which is from april to october (we still have 28 degrees celsius today!!!) you could let a villa from 400pound a week. If you are not satisfied with these options you have another option to buy and sell the plots of lands. We sold a land at the end of the 2003 with the price of 104000pound and the same land costs around 169000pound now.
