can l un- antique the wood color of an antique ?

l've got this buffet thing 60yrs old vintage , l'll put in a pic later but l wanna do it up. lt's got great draws and a really handy flat top . lt's not quite an antique though really so l don't care about preserving it.
lt's that old dark brownish wood tone , l'd love to strip it back to a modern pine color and add new squarish trim to it or something like that.
Don't know if l could bring it back to lighter though.

Thinking if l could get it lighter tone , maybe black gloss the flat top, maybe replace the rounded trim bits with square , it'd look really good and be a great piece of furniture to have around .

Is it a dark wood or a light wood stained dark?

If its a dark would you might be able to lighten it but if it's stained the stain will have gone quite deep and be hard to get back to light wood.

Think about painting it a colour or white rather than wood.

Thanks West , hu , never would've thought of that.

So l found some unpainted bits under draws and stuff , it's very light , like a light ply .
Maybe it has been stained bc l even found l think a bit of over brush straight onto the bare wood and that was def' heaps darker.
