Canberra is a small town, they'll catch a few of them. They already have regos of cars that were there and have publicly announced that those who hand themselves in may be treated more leniently than those caught by police.

The owners had only been given the keys to the house the week before.

It was fully insured. I think the insurers will be quite keen to recover some costs.

I bet the insurance tries to get out of it as "wear and tear" and "poor housekeeping"

It is disgusting appalling behaviour. Even with insurance to cover damages, there are extra holding costs and such as the time needed to fix the damage before they can move in or rent it out.

So in the ACT whose insurance is reponsible for covering the damage? Is it the purchasers even though it hasn't settled?
