Almost 3,000 people have had their say on the future of Scarborough?s beachfront.
The Scarborough Views website attracted a wide range of feedback with a number of big ideas including a skate park, wave pool, water play area, cycling trails, markets and a big screen.
Planning Minister John Day said the MRA would now consider the community?s feedback in the development of the Scarborough Master Plan.
?While most submissions agreed that the beach had a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and was well utilised, the area was not living up to its potential,? Mr Day said.
?Community support was high for simple things like more shade, seating, BBQs, pedestrian promenades and hire equipment such as bicycles, umbrellas and deck chairs.
?On a larger scale, people also want to see major attractions like a skate park, a water play area and a bigger range of cafes, bars and restaurants and regular activities and entertainment including music, performers, outdoor films and markets.?
