Earthworkers Found Asbestos and Rubbish on site

Hi all

So I'm currently building - just started earthworks.

My building consultant has just emailed me saying earthworks have been put on hold due to asbestos, rubbish and roots being found underground. I'm not sure how much yet. the builder is sourcing a quote and going to get back to me asap.

anyone else come across this

what sort of money is this likely to cost me ballpark

Depends on the amount but it can cost a bit. Make sure the builder does the necessary paperwork.

Well it cost me $4500 when they found a road underground mine I needed a special machine to dig it out.

Asbestos will need specialist removal.

What a pain in the beehind!

And this is why contingency plans/budget is essential. For nasty little suprises like this!

I remeber you posting this westminster but couldnt find it (your threads are too popular and you have too many developments on the go haha)

Hopefully its just a small amount and costs around that price!

These guys are the cheapest around, quote came in thousands cheaper, however they are in Mandurah so not sure whether they will service Perth areas.

thanks mtr, builder is going to tell me there quote in next few days depending on what it comes in at ill definitely get in touch with these guys. thanks for the tip!

total cost was $3900 so I've just gone with the original quote - might have got it cheaper but I'm overseas in a short time and will be a hassle trying to organize it. happy thats all it was!

concreter is delayed now till new year because of the holdup but should only be a couple of weeks of lost time so nothing too bad. Ill be back from work around this time so ill get to see it all happening
