East West Facing Terrace

G'day all,

I'm thinking of buying a terrace that faces east/west (the front of the terrace faces east with the rear facing west). There are terraces bordering the north and south of the property.

There is a cement rooftop, what would be the best way to get further light into the terrace and likely ballpack cost? The roof of the terrace may need some work to waterproof as well.

I appreciate any suggestions!

what about rooflight or dormer type window, get a building or rooflight specialist over to have a look see, what they recommend, try and catch as much northerly aspect light as you can,

i assume you mean concrete roof not cement roof, and ballpark figure, not sure would say probably 5-20k depending on extent and number of rooflights

jizzlobber,

thanks - thats a few good thoughts :) , I've been looking at a few other terraces and trying to notice their designs for ideas. I found it's quite common, so I'm sure they'll be some good solutions.

Yes, the roof is concrete - got myself mixed up! I'm thinking about some rooflights. I hope your ballpark guide is right - I've allowed for approximately 30-40 to get the roofing fixed and probably about 100k for the entire renovations (the rest being re-flooring and fixing up the baths/kitchen).
