Gladstone Gold Rush

Howdy all,

Was wondering if anyone on this forum has headed north to Gladstone, Surat Basin etc to join the gold rush.

I have a mate who has recently arrived in Gladstone and says they are desperately short of workers and talk of big $$$ on offer everywhere.

Would like to hear your story if you've headed north for the Gold Rush.

Coal, Gas and Aluminium, but no Gold

As for workers, you would have to be skilled in the appropriate trade.

A friend has just left his job in Brisbane and has headed up to Gladstone. He's an electrician and is on $4k a week apparently. Over double his wage here in Brissie..

Dont all jump in at once

I thought there would be loads of people on SS that may have headed up to Gladdy or Mackay etc etc. Seems not.
