The unfolding crisis in world chocolate supplies!

Pack your pantries and bar your doors before gangs of desperate chocoholics strip the shelves of retailers and begin prowling the streets looking for any source of the addictive brown drug.

The price of chocolate bars could soar if diseases that have devastated South America's cocoa crops are allowed to spread to other parts of the world, a scientist has warned.

Dr Gareth Griffith, of the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, fears that fungal infections are poised to trigger an international shortage of chocolate.

Penny Hawley, of the Biscuit, Cake, Chocolate and Confectionary Association, said: "This does need to be taken seriously."

I think it was Rockerfeller who famously said "Buy your straw hats in winter".

If he is still correct today you would be buying sugar and uranium. Clearly I'm not advocating buying the physical of either, and storing it under the house. But there is more than one way to skin a cat!
