HDT uses

Hi folks

I love this forum. I am learning so much great stuff, thanks to everyone.

Hypothetical question: I have a HDT, which has been established primarily to hold a few investment properties that are -vely geared. If I also want to -vely gear some investment in shares or managed funds should I use the same HDT? Does it have the same advantages for tax purposes? Are there any disadvantages in mixing these investments? Should I use a separate structure for the different investments?

Thanks

Hi

There is no reason why you cannot use the same trust to own IP's and shares. (For what it is worth, I do)

Yes, the same principles apply along with the same potential tax advantages.
