Insurance for new caravan

Starting to get ready for retirement...

We have brought a new Jayco caravan and I was researching insurance today online as we will take delivery in 2 weeks time.

What a pain..
NRMA.. filled out online enquiry 3 times and could not send (don't know why)
This happend with another 3 companies.

Quite a number of companies wanted a phone call for a quote.

Anyway
Highest price online was $765.00
Lowest $586.65

Then I rang our insurance broker
He suggested I link it to our house insurance and the price is $529.71

So I took up his offer of a cover note and will notify him of the rego number when registered. Sent off cheque for caravan and annexe by registered post this afternoon.

Looking forward to October long weekend in a caravan instead of a tent as I am getting to old to sleep on an air mattress on the floor.

Regards
Sheryn ;)

Hi Sheryn,

Good luck with your retirement!!

Just be abit carefull with the insurance! You need to fnd out were you may not be covered ie above the tropic of capriicorn. I have been sold policies that dont cover us up north! Also some caravan repairers are not garenteed by the insurance company but they are quiet happy for you to get authorised repairs and then you have no come back whene work is dodgy!! :D

Sheryn,

My Mum and Dad are hard core caravanners (been "araound the block" 3 times now)

When they started out some 15 years ago they joined a Caravan Club. They have been members of a number of Caravan Clubs and get good discounts on Insurance and lots of other benefits.

I would ask them some more info but they are somewhere "out there" !!

Here is a good place to start
