Invitation (to Lurkers to participate)

For any lurkers out there, read this thread again and then jump on board. As has already pointed out numerous times, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I consider myself to be a real gibberer (*can hear the other forumites agreeing*) but hey, so what. You'd be amazed at how sharing some of your stories may help or inspire someone else, and you'll never know an answer to a question you may have without asking it. Have a go.

Regards
Marty

Ozlady

Hi Ozlady and a big welcome from another relative newbie (with too much to say :p) I lurked for all of 1 day before I posted lol. After reading for a few hours I felt the sense of community and wanted to be part of it.

Happy posting :)

You have about a dozen people who dominate the forum in the non specific types of questions. These people all gang up if you dare to say hay I don’t agree with way you are investing.
The specialised areas like accounting are great and tend to be very professional and helpful.

On ya madmurf! Say it how you see it!!

For me, I read a lot for a long time before posting, but must admit I've found most everyone very helpful and not too condescending since I started posting.

There are some here with very sound advice in a lot of areas. There are also some very clever and witty people here as well (who says it can't be fun as well )...

I dont think there is a closed minded attitude, shoot you down style posting from the regular contributors

You'd be suprised to know we all have VERY different investing styles - there is not one way to invest, Im sorry if any of my posts come off at way... that is not how they are intended

Besides if they do just tell me Im a narrow minded ****** and then we can get on with the property discussion =)

Cheers,

Everyone is different, with different responses, which only adds to the pleasure when reading through this site.

I've only come on board recently, after viewing the site for over year.

Comments to which I could add, were usually already covered by another person, therefore I hesitated to join in. But I've been able to 'beat a few to the punch' recently and enjoy the interaction,
I enjoy having a say and suggest that anyone else out there, that has been just reading to join in as well.

I not concerned about any negative responses, as it's all a flow of ideas which adds to the eduction or fun of a topic.
I enjoy all your input including the dirty dozen and thank you for your great information and humour that this site offers

Cheers
Timm

"Curser" = one who curses
"Cursor" = the arrow thing on your screen :D

You have to be in the full "reply" mode for this, not the "quick reply".

SOS

What smilies on the right?

You must have something turned out that I don't, I ain't got no smilies on the right.

I stick my smilies in using keyboard
the : and the ) make :)
the ; and the ) make ;)
the : and the ( make :(
the : and D make :D

which is why I never put the other ones in my posts.

I'm off to search the options

cheers

I found it,

Misc Options under User CP, change from text to WYSIWYG and the smilies show up on the right hand side.

:):rolleyes::cool::D;):p:confused::eek::eek::mad::(

You also get some standard Word Processor icons that let you format the text.

hope this helps

PS my kids love formatting, they go crazy but it makes it hard to read.

cheers

I'm supposedly part of the "dirty dozen"?!!  ;) but would like to think that I haven't been dominating or indeed acted in a condescending way to anyone on this forum. Well, if I have, no-one's told me off about it yet!! Then again, I do recall some annoying guy called Eric who rambled on about shares too much and upset some of us..... ;)

There's no point in thinking that, just because particular members have been here longer than others or can't get away from the addiction of posting (yes I admit it- I am a Somersoftolic) that they know any more than anyone else. I've learnt so much from this forum throughout my time here and would like to think that I've occasionally been able to assist someone else through my experience. As a resource as well as a community of likeminded property investors, this forum has been a wealth of information as well as a stimulating learning environment for so many people. If lurkers don't want to post, then I can understand that. Not everyone feels comfortable contributing to a public forum like this one.

SOS.... you have a serious addiction to smilies, buddy :D
You need to get out more!!!!!!

Hi Jacque

I don't kow if you noticed but AMAZINGLY, you found this thread exactly a year after the last post. I had to look twice at the dates. The post before your last post was 2005!!

Unfortunately we're only able to insert 5 smilies in a post now. So sad. :( :p

I sure did like seeing the post with the zillion smilies again though! :D :D Nice and colourful! :D

So I did! How embarrassing!!
Was trawling through some old posts and must have forgotten that I wasn't looking at the new ones anymore...... oh dear :)

See what you mean about the smilies though; Sim sure was liberal back then!!

hi all
thanks I'm not a dirty dozen person.
with regard to posting just post and if some one flames stand back from the screen and then read what the others have to say.
with any board you are going to get views and thats what you want.
so if you have a question post it.
at the end of the day we are all learning some need more then others but if you don't ask you won't get an answer.
just believe that the question you are asking you want an answer to and its not stupid.
one little quote is you get out of life what you out in.
same on any board if you want an answer post it and even better if you know an answer then its even more inportant that you post it.
ha and make sure I stay out of that dirty dozen they look an unsavoury lot
