Melbourne November 2011 - Dinner/Meeting Tuesday 29th Doncaster

Hey Y-man

Many thanks for organising these events throughout the year

It was great to see so many happy investors in the one place, such a relaxed atmosphere and so many conversations! Everyone had something to say and there were many hot topics to discuss

A robust evening and a fitting end-of-year turnout!

Best wishes to all for a good Christmas and New Year

We will be off being cold, eating roast dinners where they should be eaten - in front of a roaring fire with it being very cold outside!

Well, that's the picture on the Xmas Cards. I'll let you know if it's true!

Cheers
Kristine

I keep seeing these meetings posted here? If you don't mind me asking what are they?

A long time ago..... well actually not that long ago (or is it ) some people on Somersoft in Melbourne thought it would be interesting to meet each other in real life rather than purely engage in a faceless discussion over the net.

So we did....

Since then, we have pretty much been meeting up on a monthly basis (other than over the Xmas/New Year) to share IP-war stories, conquests, and anything else that is topical at that point in time.....

So that's it really - just a bunch of friendly people getting together to meet and talk about all sorts of things.

The Y-man

And ...

Y-man organises the events (if eating dinner and talking a lot) can be called an event!)

Generally at 'family style' hotels around Melbourne with good road or public transport access, plenty of parking, 'bistro' style dining facilities (note that we alert each other to coupon deals for thrifty investors!), and that there is no pressure to even buy a meal. Quite a few people come along for just a coffee after dinner time so the evening can be as simple or as elaborate as suits you

The event is in the last week of the month but may be on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening.

Y-man also moves us around Melbourne so that over the course of the year the event may be more or less accessible depending on where each person lives or works

He also tries to get an idea of numbers simply so that the venue can lay the table for us, but as we meet earlier in the week it is not usually an issue if there are more or less diners than have said they are coming. We have been known to move ourselves across the other side of the dining room to make for better mingling!

  • No 'admission fee' as we pay for our own drinks / meals / coffee
  • Nothing to 'sell' - these events are not seminars or merchandise opportunities
  • No one will ask your name (you can call yourself whatever you like), address or any other identifying details unless you want to exchange details with someone who knows where to get a great deal on concrete paving or who has just met a great plumber - and even then, you can pm each other through the Forum!
  • Come once, or come to every meeting, or whatever takes your fancy

It's never boring talking to other investors so do come along in the last week in January and put some faces to the nom de plumes we get to know so well!

Cheers
Kristine

I certainly enjoyed the meet and chat. Haven't got chance to talk to many people and find out who is Y-MAN :) ...

And the night is gone. Good meeting to go to.:)
