Motivation

Some of us have set a goal to retire at a young age.....how do all of you stay motivated at work in the meantime? :)
Im finding it so difficult, yet I have only just started on the road to financial freedom (im at the goal setting stage!)

Are there any suggestions for staying motivated at work while you are trying to work on getting out of working? :D

It's Friday.....20 minutes to go! :)

Hi Nads,

I have one strategy that works a treat , guaranteed to cure anyone who's having the same problem.

All I do is - Treat my payg work as an eight hour interuption to my day! ;)

I disagree.. wherever you are, be there!.. If you're at home concentrate on your wife and kids, your hobbies etc.. dont think too much about work.. If you're at work concentrate on work.. do the best job you can! Take it seriously!

I've paraphrased the ever eloquent Jim Rohn here... the full text of the quote is:

One of the major reasons why we fail to find happiness or to create unique lifestyle is because we have not yet mastered the art of being.

While we are home our thoughts are still absorbed with solving the challenges we face at the office. And when we are at the office we find ourselves worrying about problems at home.

We go through the day without really listening to what others are saying to us. We may be hearing the words, but we aren’t absorbing the message.

As we go through the day we find ourselves focusing on past experiences or future possibilities. We are so involved in yesterday and tomorrow that we never even notice that today is slipping by.

We go through the day rather than getting something from the day. We are everywhere at any given moment in time except living in that moment in time.

Lifestyle is learning to be wherever you are. It is developing a unique focus on the current moment, and drawing from it all of the substance and wealth of experience and emotions that it has to offer. Lifestyle is taking time to watch a sunset. Lifestyle is listening to silence. Lifestyle is capturing each moment so that it becomes a new part of what we are and of what we are in the process of becoming. Lifestyle is not something we do; it is something we experience. And until we learn to be there, we will never master the art of living well.

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

Thanks Dunc, you're so right. Actually it's a bit worrying to see so many forumites in their 20s and 30s kind of rushing through their "now" lives, focussed 100% on their holy grail.

Sure, in the face of the daily dross, it's hard enough to keep the dream alive, never mind growing. But guess what, those who are 25 now will be 40 in about 15 minutes time. I'm dead serious. You wake up one day feeling 25 and thinking what's this?....I'm how old?....how the hell did that happen?

Your job IS your life at the moment. Either change it or make the most of it. Inject some fun. And enjoy the moments. Daydreaming about an idle wealthy future is a moment worth enjoying too, but it shouldn't be the only kind we have!

Michele

Just a thought, but my line of attack now is; because I have this job and get paid, I can buy more IPs :D Now I like my job. Also plan for the time when I don't need the job, but, now I do, so I concentrate on it so that I KEEP it, and IPs
