New Melbourne Docklands Apartments

Ghost town is an apt description.
How did the manage to get the Docklands plan so wrong? It feels like its missing a heart.

It had a pulse early on and got absolutely destroyed by the careless property development that consumed the area turning it into a grey cold and 100knot wind tunnel disaster.

The problem they face now is some places can still draw a crowd but rely on things like sporting events (See Woodshed). Issue is that they need to charge $10 for a pot to make up for no customers during the day and in the off-season. Eventually people get fed up with this and dare I say it may start drinking in the actual ground pregame.

Also the docklands have never had something to call their own. Surely they should have atleast tried to get something! If not weekly or monthly like some kind of market? Then annually. Maybe they have tried something and failed but anytime someone mentions Docklands it is in reference to a horrible investment decision.

Was discussing docklands with a much more intelligent, experienced and successful investor than myself a few months ago
he thinks docklands is what pyrmont in sydney was like in the 1990s
developments should exhaust themselves in 5-10yrs time
by then population wouldve increased and there will be greater demand for inner cbd living
Cg will follow
its a matter of how long youre prepared to hold out and opportunity cost

Personally, given the relatively reasonable prices for older units within 15km of melb cbd (compared to sydney), hard to pick docklands at this point in time
