At the time of exchange, only my partners name was on the contract as the purchaser. We would like to change the purchaser name from my partner to me only. Can this be done? and what issues may arise in doing so? Note, i am yet to pay stamp duty (NSW Australia) and property is not yet complete.

No, not without your partner selling it to you which he can do prior to settlement, but it will trigger another payment of stamp duty.

Note, i am yet to pay stamp duty (NSW Australia) and property is not yet complete.

You get 30 days after exchange to pay stamp duty in NSW.
