Property Info sites

Hey all,

Ive been googling to try and find sites that give me detailed property info.

There is a few out there, but can anybody give me a reccomendation on the best one, and what i should be paying?

Chasing info like property value estimate, past sales, suburb rental history, etc.

Cheers
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Rpdata and Residex are research houses in the property market providng this information. They have "public data" access for which you can pay for reports. However companies like ours who work with property investors on finance and property strategy have access to these data sources and can provide this information for no cost (subject to "reasonable use").
Regards
Paul

I find that lot of the time onthehouse is good enough to give you a reasonable indication of what you're after.
Their value estimates are to be taken with a grain of salt though. Still, awesome for a free website.

I have found their info on past sales in NSW and QLD to be comprehensive. The info on vic on the other hand-most of the sales figures are missing.

Any thoughts on why this would be?

Past sales data is useful.

Their valuation sometimes is way off. Had a $3m house valued at $1m (a piece of vacant land on that street sells more than $1m haha).

Obviously the valuer was angry with the value of the place so he valued it lower just to spite you.

there is some really good sites on there.

thanks.

Some I knew of and then lose them when I go to use them again.

Quick question though. In vic - u pick up the sunday papers and get the listings of all the sales.

If I am looking for something similar in NSW - does it exist>

All of the sites mentioned above are great for hard statistics and number specific to individual property searches.

If you are looking for more holistic research/info about property market trends and nuances, communities like this forum are a great source of info. You can actually Google any phrase/topic you are interested in, followed by the word 'Somersoft', and most of the time a post on here will come up, that you can look at.

Also, specialist media sites like the online versions of the magazines 'Your Investment Property', 'API - Australian Property Investor Magazine', and even 'Hotspotting.com.au' are useful tools, along with Property Observer (a mecca for some of the biggest journalist names in the business), and numerous blogs etc; these can all help you find and discern information.
