If they have to ask the question, they probably already know what the reality is.
Why ask your husband to lie, and put him in a position which he will hate, and which he can't possibly give the right answer?
If the husband really liked the view, he would tell her before she had to ask for confirmation.
"That dress looks hot" or words to that effect.
The fact that he hasn't commented (because the view is not that inspiring, and not many blokes would say "you look/are fat") means she probably has her answer.
