Pros & Cons of a corner block

I have seen with my own eyes, a car plough through a brick fence (single skin, about 1.8m high) in broad daylight.

I was driving west along Polding St Fairfield when a car traveling in the opposite direction just veered left, mounted the kerb and went through the wall as if it wasn't there.

The driver was OK but she was crying hysterically. I couldn't work out why she crashed, mechanical problem perhaps? Funnily, the brick wall looked like a bridge because the top course of bricks was still there.

This happened just after 9/11 and my friend said it was a terrorist attack on the house :D

Any way, as some one mentioned, a good sturdy block wall (say 200 series blocks with reinforced concrete in the cavity) will make your corner block yard much safer.
