Renewal Letter

Hi I have just had a letter from the PM about the lease renewal. In the boxes to tick, one of them is
do not renew. reason..............................

Am I obliged to give a reason. The lease expires and that's that.
I assume it is just an info copy for the PM?

You are not obliged to write anything.
But you ARE moving for a reason. People don't move because the lease expired.
You have a better apartment. You can't afford to rent so moving home, you've bought your own place?
The PM likes to know so they can inform the landlord. eg if you are sick of asking for things to be fixed, or the unit is too hot in summer etc. Then the landlord can address the issues (to keep you or fix before new tenant goes in). That's my thinking anyway.

It's like when you change banks. It surprises me that they never ask you why you are leaving them. Perhaps they don't care.

I agree with travelbug. And don't sweat that you have to provide a "sufficient" reason; they're asking for customer service purposes. I'd tell them the truth to assist them (provided they've been reasonable with you).
