Retaining wall advice

We are landscaping our PPOR and need to some suggestions for:

* Retaining wall - Brick? Sleepers? what colour, style, material

* low maintenance plants to put in the bed between the fence and retaining wall.

The current brick wall is on a massive lean and about to collapse.

any links or advice for a rookie retaining wall builder and landscaper.

It looks as though it used to be a garden. I'd get rid of the soil and remove the need for the retain wall completely, lay turf over the lot.
