Seeking financial advisor

No point actually asking for formal financial advice on here :)

And there's nobody local. I'm moving to Sydney in a few weeks so I'm fine with an in-person advisor there.

The basic stuff:

Have a house with a small loan that is joint owned, need to decide if it is better to sell, buy out, or refinance and rent it out. I'm going to talk to a real estate agent to get some ideas on valuations, the house needs some work done to it to make it fully rentable and I need a price on that too.

We have a joint business that we're going to dissolve end of financial year, but I have a lot of personal projects that are earning a decent amount these days and I need some advice on how to structure those - I suspect I should be getting a pty ltd. Not crazy high income, maybe $30-40k a year, but almost no expenses on that money.

In the meantime, someone here may want to slap some sense into me about buying a house with a separated partner, or buying on my own, or sharing a rental, or having a rental each or combinations of the above. Where it gets messy is if either of us gets a new partner and they realise we're sharing a house - had a friend warn me about that one.

I start a fulltime job soon at the same place I've been working at for some months so I'm actually fine for a regular loan once that goes through, partner quit that place and is freelancing elsewhere and if that goes bad she'll be on a pension.

I have three people now - friend of mine, a mutual friend of self and partner and my boss all leaning towards the path of me just continuing on with what I want to do and letting my partner sink or swim alone, since realistically there is no reason I am obligated to take the financial/emotional path that most benefits *both* of us.

I have, to put it mildy, a f**ktonne of 'baggage' that I need to sort out.

Hi Rumple,

When you say structures and organising that I am not sure if Financial Advisor can do that for you. You may wish to work with a team of advisors i.e. lawyer, financial advisor, accountant and mortgage broker.

They all specialise in different areas and can help you form a strong sounding board. The team you have around will be biased towards what you do. It is a good idea to get independent people to bounce ideas off.

I would love to help but given your moving to Sydney its best to find someone local.

Cheers

Sean
