Short Term Rentals

We live out of Melbourne but now need to commute due to business and work commitments.

To solve this problem we have bought a new unit in Port Melbourne for us to use during the week.

We also want to rent it out on weekends and during holiday periods and when we do not need to be in Melbourne.

I looked for an property manager to undertake this task but could not find one.

There are websites that we can register the property and the vacany dates.

My questions are

Can anyone recommend good websites for this purpose?

Where could I find our legal obligations for this sort of rental (the Landlords Obligations do not seem to be relevant)?

We will also need to find a cleaner and a way of handling the key exchange.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards

Judy

I haven't used them myself, but I came across them when I did a random open-for-inspection visit (you know, when you are going somewhere and see a place open... we just can't resist!)

www.maprealestate.com.au

They specialize in fully furnished places for short term rental (like 3 months plus). If they can't help you maybe they can give you some suggestions.

Hi Judy.

Just check that your landlord insurance covers you with this type of tenancy arrangement. Some insurance companies will over cover you if you have a normal lease in place.
