Sundae Auctions

wondering if auctions held on sundays could potentially lead to some bargains. i would imagine 90% of auctions occur on saturdays; thus crowds will be bigger on Saturdays?

there a few suburbs in melbourne with large jewish populations and you see auctions on sundays frequently.

mind you if they are jewish they probably have a quid or two - lol

any views, did you ever buy on a sundae?

I think you've answered your own question. Like you pretty much said you will be flat out getting a bargain with jewish people tending to be very money smart.:) Not too many fire sales i'dd reckon.

Eeeerrr! Comeon guys. I'm not big on PC but........

When is the best time to take advantage of Mormons and Chinese?

Sunfish,

i'm not talking about taking advantage, more along the lines of possibility of picking up a bargain with less bidders at auction.

i'm sure the stereotype of jewish doesn't hold up these day, they are just like the rest of us.

The skill in "picking up a bargain" is in the negotiation process not in hoping that certain ethnic groups will appear/not appear at auctions or thinking that certain days of the week (or deserts) will make a difference!

Sales by private treaty offer more room for negotiations than auctions do. That's where you can really use your skills.

I once attended an auction on Christmas Eve. The place went for way below reserve- I had not been prepared to bid because I thought that the suggested selling price was out of my reach.

If I'd known to target one particular religious group, I could have done well.

Is it only Christians that take advantage of the Christmas public holidays? I think commercialisation around christmas time is more powerful on peoples actions than the religious meaning.

my mum is vert religious pay 10% of her inocme to tithes including her Gapital Gains. She won't sign any contracts on a Sunday.

I've just come across a property in Melb that is being auctioned on a Sunday. Interestingly, a very similar property in the area is being auctioned the day before. I wonder whether the vendor and the agent have noticed this, and decided to auction the property on a different day??

The advantage to this would be that they would know the price that the property fetched the day before, and possibly pick up some of the 'losing bidders'.

Increase in number of auctions?

I've never heard of an auction being held on a sundae...could be chilly...although up here in FNQ it could melt quickly.:D

Seriously though...I browsed through the Cairns Post Realtor section on Saturday, and have noticed a decided increase in the number of properties going up for auction. What does this mean in terms of the property cycle?
