Swedish ice hotel forced to install fire alarms

My brother got married at the Ice Hotel, and so I've been there and spent a night in it.

There's not an awful lot that could burn. The building is ice, so the only things that would be flammable are the beds and bedding, much of which are reindeer skins.

I suppose it lives up to the old health and safety going mad cliche. :D

Dumb question (maybe)... but how cold was it staying there? I saw a show on it a few years back and I thought they built it each year? Is that right?

They shoed the guests all snugged up like they were on a ski field, and also showed the beds (made of ice) but they had huge animal skins over the top (again, from memory). I guess you keep warm by dressing warm but I cannot even begin to imaging trying to sleep on a bed of ice with just a woolly mammoth skin to keep the cold out.
