THE BLOCK - Chris and Jennas apartment for sale

A few of them are up on RE.com.au:

Unit 1: Michael & Carlene http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-vic-prahran-117902235

Unit 2: Chris & Jenna http://www.realestate.com.au/property-apartment-vic-prahran-117921143

Unit 3: Karsten & Max http://www.realestate.com.au/property-apartment-vic-prahran-117846863

Unit 4: Shannon & Simon http://www.realestate.com.au/property-apartment-vic-prahran-117915927

Unit 5: Was unit 5 in show but in reality was No 6 as an address by the looks of it?

Unit 6: Darren & Dee http://www.realestate.com.au/property-apartment-vic-prahran-117930567

As for Chris & Jenna's (Unit 2) the first thing I noticed is the change in colour for the main living area (dark grey to white) which looks much more neutral and appealing.

Oh yep, i didn't see that one. I'm not sure when it was actually filmed, its still a few rooms away from being complete. I'm interested to know how the auctions went now.

By the look of it only finished last week with the 4 week marketing campaign starting this week. Open for inspections on this weekend (20-21/9) with the live auction scheduled for 11/10 IAW the listings on RE.com.au.

the kitchens itself is like 30-40K if you try to get it yourself outside. they get it sponsored by the show and good guys etc.
like one of the couples marble finishes (although not practical - would cost heaps).

Thank goodness ... because I've been itching for weeks to put up a post about how Chris and Jenna seem to have no idea about how to bring the apartment together as a cohesive whole.

The changes are simple but good - although I would have liked to see an off white in the copper bedroom instead of that depressing dark grey. And thought they were putting the study literally "under the stairs" so that it could be closed off with some amazing looking screen rather than on show ... but anyhow

Notice that the "not yet shown" rooms are missing from the photos.

Depends on the reserves - but I've got my money on the brothers.

Would so love to go on The Block - but to hard with young kids, hubby working long hours and no nearby family.

Do anyone else mentally renovate their own ideas along with the show?

I think these 'butlers pantries' are the biggest con being pulled on women. All right if you are having a party and staff are out there preparing food, but for the 99.5% everyday use, women will be stuck out the back like in the old days, preparing food, while everyone else is in the dining room having fun. Ridiculous expensive fad, wouldnt have one as a gift.

There seems to be lot of brass/copper in use throughout the units. Is that the latest trend?

I really like the brass pendant lights in Mike & Carlene's kitchen and the bronze mirror in the powder room looks amazing!

The flush tile/carpet effect in Max & Carston's lounge was another highlight for me.

I'm surprised Mike & Carlene didn't change the stepped shower by choice, or were made to by the foreman  The Australian Standard for 'anti-slip' comes to mind... then there is all the splash on surrounds.. crazy

Wasn't a big fan of #1 or #6 (but I have limited knowledge in what is "hip" or "trendy")

Since I'm not a local: what rough prices are these likely to go for?

can anybody post up a rough budget and REAL reno costs and what they are worth after MINUS any premium price for w!nk factor for being on a tv show

Love it, couldn't agree more. Kitchens are now entertaining spaces, and why not make anyone who you're cooking for appreciate the effort that has gone in?!

I had a butler's pantry put into my new house. lol. the trouble with them is that you need a butler. I love it because it keeps everything out of sight. but I had a dinner party a couple of weeks ago, and chose not to use it just so that I could be with the guests while I was cooking.

So who does everything think will win?

The bookmakers odds are quite interesting - I wonder how they came up with them.

My 10 year old daughter says Dee & Darren

I've no idea, only watched random bits and pieces, don't even know who's in it

Darren and Dee's apartment has a lot of elements that I want to use in my new PPOR but I'm gutted because now people will think I've chosen it because I saw it on the block - bugger them!!

I love herringbone wood floors and dark shaker kitchen cabinets with carrara marble. I love the carrara hex tiles in the bathrooms.

Droool

I've got my money on the boys getting the highest price (whether they "win" or not is another matter) ... followed by Max and Karsten

I'm waiting to see whether the reserve price for Max and Carsten allows for the potential of the extra room, and what the others (especially Dee and Darryn) will have to say about it.

I wouldn't worry about it. They will all be forgotten about 15 mins after the auctions.

Especially when the new one starts.
