The price of a 40% Renewable Energy Target

i assume this thread is a response to my vague question of "if portagul, uk and denmark are/has received 40% of their power from renewable sources, why can't we?"

it was a very interesting read. although, i don't consider a 25% rise in electricity prices to much to pay - seeings as we've just had a 16% rise and nobody squealled (except a few pensioners - but you covered that).

i agree that we would be better off tackling the usage side of the equation first - but how does one go about that without creating pain via prices rises and regulation to prevent sale of cheap/inefficient products?

great read. i too know people who dry everything in the dryer, run the home aircon 24/7 :eek: and leave every light on. i shudder to think what their bills are like. personally, i'm a bit of a power-thrift, but do like my swimming pool.
