What name to borrow in

A straight forward question about what name to pu tthe loan in...
I am setting up some finance for investments through an equity loan against my PPOR. The PPOR is jointly owned with my wife. Should I have the investment loan in my name only so I can maximise any -ve gearing advantages?

Having stuffed up things like this before, my advice would be to take paid advice.

Spend the money and go see a financial planner!

They will have the best solution which could only be ascertained with all of your financial details. There is nowhere near enough info in your post to get anything other than incorrect answers in reply.

as l understand it , its not whose name the loan is in but whose name the investment is in.

l dont really do much without running it past my accountant and l would suggest you should seek professional advice also.

ATO look at whose name is on title.

I prefer to see the loan in the name of the owner of the property if buying in a personal name - but certainly not a requirement.
