No great story to tell unfortunately. I asked my father years ago if he was able to go guarantor for me and he didn't want to. Back then I was not working (just had a baby) and my husband's job was neither secure or well paid - so serviceability was an issue as well as the deposit. Dad said that if we can get ourselves into a better situation job wise he may consider it. And so now I am working part time and my husband has a well paid stable career, we are a a lot less of a risk for him.
When dad recently said that he will help us we were over the moon but we still have issues with finance - not as simple as we thought it was
So no hard slog financially to get the deposit together, just a couple of years trying to convince my dad that we're good for it!
