With $650k 3 bedroom house/th

Hiya!
Newbie here moved from Melbourne

Hubby and I are looking for our first home to move in where we can spend max $650,000 for min 3bedroom house or townhouse (no unit or apartment). Looking at the areas which are convenient to travel (with public transport) to my Uni @ Macquarie. Our importance is that travel to work should not be more than an hour and better schools around.

What do you reckon which suburbs are good for us?

There are still 3bed townhouses and some houses in the upper north shore:
Hornsby
Hornsby Heights
Asquit
Mt Kuringgai
Mt Colah
Berowra

It is a 30-40mins train ride to Macquarie Uni via Epping or Chatswood (double choice)

You could try Marsfield, which is walking distance to Mac Uni. You'd need to buy something unrenovated though for < $650K (if you can find one).
