Wonthaggi desalination

Oooh, my first time at starting a new thread.

So following the premier's announcement about building a huge desalination plant in Wonthaggi, does this mean that this area could be ripe for investment....? There are lots of cheaper properties available.

Will it mean lots of new job opportunities, infrastructure, shops etc...

Nice thread Jojo! :)

I was contemplating Wonthaggi too, the implications the plant may have.

The historic median house price for the area; 1994-2004 was:

1994: $75,000..............2004: $$191,000................change of: 155%

I know the area

I know Wonthaggi pretty well. Drive through it everytime I go to my holiday house/investment property.

Good growth recently. Lots of new shops. When you hear people talk about growth on the Bass coast well Wonthaggi is the Major town in along that coast.

Good spot for the plant I think. You could do worse than investing there, or even Cape Patterson just down the road. Little question mark over how the excess salt pumped back into the sea will effect the local Marine world.

Cheers
