X Securatise or Collaterise???

Does any one know the difference between cross securatisation and cross collaterisation??

I am pretty sure I know what collaterisation is ... but what about securatisation?

I have heard that securatisation is better. Any thoughts?

Cheers,

G'day Nominees,

I've always thought they were one and the same (please forgive the tautology - it's one of those cliches...)

If they ARE different, I'd certainly like to know too.

I also assumed they were the same, but have just done some searches.
eg: from the Commonwealth Bank site - Commonwealth Bank's first residential mortgage-backed securitisation transaction was issued in October 1997 in the domestic market.

I still dont understand it, but it does seem a tad different.

I will follow this thread with interest.. :)

Hiya

Securitisation is a instituional process to obtain funds from wholesale markets such as Super Funds.

I dont believe it has any similarity to Cross collateralisation which is at lender level.
