Your Favourite Resturant

I have recently found a great small and unpretentious Italian restaurant in Sydney's Darlinghurst. They do Italian style food that is seasonal, exceptionally well cooked/prepared in a small cosy environment. Right up my alley.
Sagra Sydney

Apart from the German-Club in Brisbane value for money, even better when they have the German Band playing, but I had a Kangaroo-Mince-Taco while at a Nth NSW Market on the weekend ,just 2 Ladies in small mobile van all internal stainless steel internal maybe all precooked, spotless clean
and 5 bucks a taco the line-up was 10 minutes..

My sister makes us go along to a degustation for her birthday each year. We've been to a fancy place in the Barossa, Jackson's and most recently Amuse. Jackson's was nice but I felt expensive for what we got. The place in the Barossa had a horrible gamey jus through a few of the dishes. Amuse was amazing...like eating art!

Great reviews, big personalities, fast service, excellent specials, atmosphere, kids etc - Via Napoli in Lane Cove (& soon in Hunters Hill).

The best was the two hat restaurant in Merimbula (made the week away on site inspections worthwhile - thanks qantas/virgin in flight magazine for the suggestion).

Ive eaten at Via Napoli lots of times before and i do agree they do have good pizza but you should try "Sale Pepe" in Seaforth. Since i've found this place i havent been back to via napoli. Pizza is nicer and the place is ALOT quieter and not a mad house.

When i travelled to europe last year i found a excellent pizza place in Milan, and i can say Sale Pepe is just as good.

These are my top picks for Sydney!

Thai Pothong - Newtown (Thai)
Atom Thai - Newtown
Holy Basil - Canley Vale (Thai)
Sylvia's Wellbeing Kitchen - Cremorne (Korean)
Sale Pepe - Seaforth (italian, woodfire pizza)
Al aseel - lakemba (lebanese)
The boathouse - Blackwattle bay (Best Snapper pie)
Rib Terranean - Balmain (Best ribs you will ever eat)
Golden Century - sydney (Chinese)
Luck Japanese Restaurant - Brighton Le Sands

I am off to Melb in one week, wish it was Syd, these places look great.

Though, must admit Melb is fantastic, spoilt for choice. I am planning to go to Mamma Sitas which I have been told is fantastic

If you want to explore latin flavours i would recommend piqueos too, ive heard pretty good things. it's a peruvian and argentinian restaurant so nothing you can get in perth. mamasita flavours, while being the supposed standard bearer for authentic mexican in australia, can still be found in perth at places like el publico or la cholita. it is meant to be a touch above the perth 2 though

The family went to a teppanyaki restaurant yesterday, where they make a big show of cooking in front of you.

The throwing of an egg into a bowl went wrong and my daughter ended up with egg all over her new dress.

No discount or compensation was offered.

Another reason why I love Shiki in Adeliade. It's a teppankyaki restaurant but doesn't do the wanky stuff like throwing the egg, it's just about great food.

I'm not much of a foodie, and I don't have a sophisticated palette but here goes.

Brisbane - Sono (City), Sushi Station (Bulimba), The Morrison (Gabba)
Perth - Modo Mio (Casino), Rockpool (Casino), The previous Chinese Restaurant whatever it was called (Casino) :) We lived in Burswood so all these were a 5 minute walk away.

Most enjoyed coffee - Definitely Zucchero Espresso Bar in Perth.

Hi

It isn't high end or fine dining as such but for a good casual pizza or pasta at good prices try Toto's Pizza House in Lygon Street Carlton, it was in fact the first pizza restaurant in Australia.

The owners Sam, and his two sons: Zain and Serg always make sure the food is top notch and my favourite pizza is the Toto's Super Special (without prawns), which is the first pizza on the menu!

Regards,

alicudi

Thanks for the heads up. Have made a booking.

For those in WA I would highly recommend cape lodge restaurant (rated one of the best in the world) or the voyager estate these are both in the Margaret river wine region.

For cbd Perth either baltazars or 1907.
