I Feel This Forum Is Becoming Negative...I Don't Know If I Want To Come Back???

I'm really sorry to say this but I feel this forum has become quite negative recently. Since I joined this forum almost 2 months ago, it has been really positive with different points of view & a huge range of great topics to choose from with a wealth of information; which has encouraged me to continue logging on daily to check out new stuff, etc; but recently over the past week; it's just been fighting between people; name calling; bickering; & overall it has made me think; WHY BOTHER COMING BACK??? I don't like conflict; especially conflict that goes on for days & days!!! I really appreciate the support, encouragement, & advice I've personally received for sharing with others; but I really don't know if I want to come back to the SS forum anymore. Sorry everyone; but to me it's not the same anymore as it was when I started almost 2 months ago. This is arguably the best investing forum around; but now who knows?? Very disappointing. :(

Sorry watermellon man...I will be good and go away. I know this post is directly aimed at me.

Sorry to burst people's bubble guy's. It just saddens me that 'real estate investors' only want to here the positive and only want to be patted on the back.

Is this an ego thing ? I mean a dose of reality doesn't hurt once in a while. I mean come on people........

Is the purpose of this forum just to show how 'good' and smart you all are ?

Mate it all goes in cycles and have seen a few.

If you don't like some threads then don't read them. But sometimes they are like a train wreck. You don't want to but you really can't help sneaking a look :(

So hang around, pop so Viagra and harden up a bit :D

After one bad week, you are going to drop us!!

All relationships have their ups and downs, people argue, bicker, name call (even online). Don't throw out the baby with the bath water.

Sometimes a time out however, may be worthwhile.

WM Man, I feel the same way as you about some of the recent threads, but don't let it stop you from coming to SS. The other threads/users have too much helpful/valuable info. not to stay on board.

If it's any help, these people usually drop off after a bit, you get them every now and again but they'll stop. Unfortunately the more people reply to them, the more it keeps them coming back, despite their lack of logical argument. Be thankful it doesn't happen as often here as it does on the share forums!

Cheers
Steve
PS Although for the life of me I can't figure out the motive of some. On share forums they tend to think they can effect the price of a stock to suit them one way or another, but for a property forum I just don't get it! Interesting how they take it upon themselves to "save" the poor misguided people on forums.

wm don't let one thread spoil your experience. personally, i'm having fun. i apologise if i have appeared negative - hang in there with us, ignore the thread and the good times will pick up again very soon ... :D

we're just property investors - passionate bunch, we are. also, as mbl said - sometimes we gotta have a look at the negative as well to keep us all in balance.

(my gosh, did i really say that!?)

How much do you want to argue your point; till everyone on SS bows their heads & says "You are the King! You are right!" Why can't you just drop the issue & move on. I cannot understand your logic - You say that you don't like Spruikers; but you are one in your own right - how posts have you made on that same thread - must be at least 100 now."

As the wise man Turkish once said:

'You're a bit sensitive ain't ya Tommy.'

Why get upset because someone posts their opinion. Take responsibility for your own reactions. MBL has just as much a right as everyone else on here to express himself, regardless of whether you agree with him or not.

If you think he's bad, you shoulda seen the thread about The Secret awhile back, woo! To the untrained eye, people were going hell for leather but all it was, was people having a discussion.

Just remember that that thread you're sooking about had a number of other posters in it that simply couldn't walk away either. As much as mbl was pushing his point, there were plenty of others who were pushing their own agendas just as forcefully.

Don't be a ****** Mark.

I'll be whatever I want thanks. If the guy wants to leave, fine. That his choice. Then just leave. There's no need to start a thread and make a big song and dance about how a few threads have upset him so much that he is going to leave the forum.

You don't have to read them if you don't like them buddy......I think you just don't like what I am saying.......making you think twice eh ?

Hey Watermelon Man :)

Life is full of roses and thorns- we've all got to learn to live with both unfortunately. That which challenges us makes us stronger in the end.

I haven't had the time or inclination to read the many recent "sagas" here on SS, as I only have so much leisure time to catch up on new threads these days- but, as in any public forum, you're not always going to have an agreeable or even likable bunch of members voicing their opinion. That's life.

You can always come over and chat at InvestEd if you like (shameless plug, I know :D ) - we have fewer property investors bantering, but interesting discussions, nevertheless. Oh, and if you're into shares, there's a whole bunch of of people who like talking about them too!!

And, if you really don't like a certain member's posts, you can put them on Ignore. It might make you feel better :)

I'll take you up on that offer DEFINITELY!

WM - I too have noticed that there can be negativity/personal digs on the forum,(and not just recently!!) however I feel it adds a bit of spice to the forum at times. We live and invest in the real world and the same human interaction goes on in the outside world as well, although I think the interent allows some anonimity to say what you really think!
I know from you recent post, that you have recently removed yourself from a negative environment, and thats great, but unfortunately you will not escape it altogether - the world is made up of too many different personalities for us all to get along and agree in harmony! And I also think investing/investors can be a pretty hard-ars*d bunch at times.

Mate, SS has too much to offer, to allow a few rude/negative/confronting etc posts to put you off - use the site to find what you want and need to find to further your investment career,. and ignore that which goes against your sensibilities. You wont find such up-to-date, thought provoking info from a book...
Just my opinion! I know SS, and its contributors has furthered my knowledge and investing in such a way that I can put with a whole LOAD of Cr*p!!!

Cheers,and good luck, Nadia
