Taming the Debt Monster - Attitudes to debt for young players

Hi Simon I sent it to a few people and even posted it in our public folders at work. To be honest, most people took it as if I was trying to prove something. The section about the lady who bought a performance car and thought it would appreciate, was criticised the most. I told them to forget...

    Education, qualifications, experience, etc

Just as you have to research and constantly analyze mortgages, the same is with brokers. Just as in business, you usually can't pay anyone enough to care about your matters as much as you. With that said though, I use a broker. I think they're invaluable, especially with getting better rates.

Do you know a good UK Accountant?

Hi Annapurna Interesting forum name; just wondering if you're from the area or a visitor. I haven't been, but definitely plan to soon. Good luck finding the accountant.

Taming the Debt Monster - Attitudes to debt for young players

Hey aussierogue After re-reading a few posts, I guess it was just one of those things. You stirring the pot, me taking it the wrong way, etc. :) No harm done I hope. Anyway, I forwarded on Simon's post to a few people today (parents included). But I think it's like someone who has just...

Taming the Debt Monster - Attitudes to debt for young players

I know exactly where you're coming from Simon. He just has different goals and different strategies. I think he plans to make his fortune through business. I throw it out there every now and then about investing, but he is not the slightest bit interested. Same with the other directors. He...

Taming the Debt Monster - Attitudes to debt for young players

I have to admit Les, I feel exactly the same as Buzz. While I am new to the forum and I did bite my tongue, I don't think it pays to be rude and insulting. Sure it's just his opinion, but we're only younger, we're not the enemy. From what I have seen, the younger people here have nothing but...

Does residential generally have higher CG?

Hi All I have noticed a few comments on this forum (and in books that I've read) that commercial property experiences lower CG than residential. Does this generally hold true, or is it just a myth? Yardney mentions in his book that commercial properties are simply valued on their yield...

    Residex Rental report

Here's their wording: *Note: This report contains no suburbs in Victoria, due to the low predicted growth and rental yield for many areas in that state.

    Residex Rental report

From memory I think it says they have left out VIC due to low yields.

Taming the Debt Monster - Attitudes to debt for young players

Ahhh, possessed, good word. Maybe I was possessed and that's the only explanation! hehe Seriously though, I just have a love for cars, similar to Peter Spann's admittance in one of his books. But in addition to that, I don't think I had the knowledge of what was required to become financially...

Taming the Debt Monster - Attitudes to debt for young players

I was exactly the same Simon, no disrespect intended... and just for the record, I am far from successful! I think my earlier post is testament to that. :)

I didn't realise 'younger' and 'successful' were mutually exclusive. :)

    New Investment Techique

Hey Young_Gun Just putting it on the table, others can advise against it... when I was a couple of years older than you (about 21) I decided I wanted to get into property and gain financial independence. Actually, I think I decided about the independence thing when I was 12, but anyway...

Taming the Debt Monster - Attitudes to debt for young players

Wow, what a coincidence. Excellent post Simon!!! I am booked into the bank on Friday to ask for another LOC to get me out of the exact situation you described. Last year I had a lapse of reasonable judgment and purchased a $65k car under a hire purchase arrangement. I had convinced myself...

    A few novice questions

I know what you mean Alex. I saw a post from you elsewhere mentioning that a trip to Italy somewhat influenced your requirement for financial independence. I had a similar 'revelation' on a snowboarding trip to Canada and Switzerland early last year. I'd love to be able to stay away for...
