Euro rate - max 4.65% for 20 years!

Hi all, just thought I'd brag - recently got a French loan for a small property over there. (I realise that it's not a great investment from a $$ point of view, but it's not a big spend either) Thing is, the semi-fixed interest rate I got tracks between 2.65% (min) and 4.65% (max) :D...

    Auctions to be abolished

wow ... in response to the Great Australian Scream article here http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/great-australian-scream-20090421-ae0e.html, we have several ultra intelligent suggestions such as this one below: "It may seem simplistic and I'm sure there are a lot of reasons it won't work (I'm...

    Who has a houskeeper ?

BlackSpider - get one, it's an absolute must when you've just had a new child, as for the trust issues you should be able to find a cleaner who can do the job while you're at home (early, late, weekends etc). Sue - try the yellowpages, and if you can't get one that'll do a good job for...

    Security for LOC

Hi all, just a bit confused and am after a bit of advice from those who have done this kind of thing before or from any of the MB's on SS. I'm looking to start up either a LOC or a mortgage/offset combo to achieve the same result as a LOC, and am hoping someone can tell me (a) if it's...

Fed up with spams in optus mail

Levels of spam is not dependent on ISP - it's all about how many sites/companies who get a kick out of on-selling your email addy that you register with, or how many forums/blogs etc that you leave your email addy on for the world to see (and harvest). I'm with optus and this works fine for...

ah, correct pronunciation is 'Straarlyah?' or sometimes 'Straawlyah?', and whatever you do don't forget the '?' at the end awlraught? Just because we say things differently in this country to how you do in your own country doesn't mean we have to change the way we do it in this country...

Bad spelling is rampant, but can be fixed

Teaching Disaster Just an observation, but the English skills displayed by Gen Y'ers seem to be so poor that they appear to have considerable trouble just trying to use spell checkers properly. eg. to/too, bear/bare, not/note etc etc. I suspect that it simply reflects woefully lax...

Replacing Steel Windows With Wooden Ones

From what I've heard the majority of the expense will be for the labour involved with removing them and then fixing the resulting wall damage. The wooden windows themselves don't cost that much I think. By the way, I was told by a window guy that burglars hate steel windows - one good reason...

    Buying in France

Hi all, and thanks for the responses. I'm a Francophile, so that's why I'm looking at places in France specifically, and it's more an emotional thing than pure investment. Ned, how did you find your property? Did you look locally or from Oz via internet etc, and how long did it take to...

    LVR and Equity

Thanks Peter, Richard. Yes the loans are with ANZ, and the IP docs reference the PPOR. PPOR is valued at 700k with 555k loan remaining, and IP's value is 240k with loan of 270k. Am looking at 2nd IP of 200k and hoping to finance at least 200k.
