    Personalised Number Plates

Did anyone see the Chasers episode on private plates? Very funny - it nearly got a little out of control though. Anyway... There I was in a carpark and a dude pulls up in a Commodore and his plate was VZ 2004. So I asked him what model it was and he said 'VZ". Cool I replied. What year? I...

    Small Business Advice

Thanks Guy's for all your ideas and comments. Many of them are just what we have been speaking about today. She charges $75 per hour for new clients. Her older clients are slightly less. Even so.... That adds up to way less than $120K assuming 4 weeks holiday. Might have to check under her...

    Small Business Advice

Silversands - she did that. Increased her prices. No clients stopped training, instead - couples trained together to save the cash. As this happened, more clients come along. Bottom line is she needs to outsource the work based on her training program and ethics. A mind shift is needed. I...

    5 year fixed rates thread

I struggled with which way to go.... In the end, I decided to put an extra 2% of my loan balance away from 2 months ago. Yes it's another $20K a year but if the interest rates stay down for a while, then i'm hoping I will be infront in the end:confused:

    Small Business Advice

Yeah agree. She needs to complete a new business plan and be prepared to lose clients initially as she moves from training them herself to using others to work for her. She is SA personal trainer of the year - soon to be SA burnt out trainer if she doesn't look at how she is doing business.

    Small Business Advice

Thanks you all for your replies. You have all said exactly what I have been saying to her. csc - I didn't think of it like that not being business minded myself but when you think about it, how absolutely correct you are. Marc - thanks for your advice too. She does think that her clients...

    Small Business Advice

I have a girlfriend of mine who has a small business in the personal training industry. She does well from it. Her turn over this year will be in excess of $120K. The problem is - there is only one of her and she is working up to 16-17 hours a day a few days a week and easily 13 hours a day...

Over protective father of a 9 yo girl ?

I don't have kids but as I was reading this I was thinking, there is no way I would let my daughter (if I had one) stay there without others being around, nice guy or not. Too late is too late IMO. Tough one though...

Leave PPOR as IP and rent myself????

Thanks Prop / Buzz - I am being transfered to Vic for work reasons (Air Force) and then I will be coming back to Adelaide to live. Defence provide rental assistance unless you have your own PPOR in your posting locality, so... when I move back to SA I have to live in my PPOR unless I choose...

    Repairs & Maintenance without receipts....

Thanks Scott. The work will be done whilst the property is available for rent. It will be vacant and on the market so I guess I could still claim if I was going to get a receipt?? As for tax evasion, mmmm, not sure. He is an older retired bloke who just does odd jobs for friends, no business...

    Repairs & Maintenance without receipts....

Thanks Rixter, I will check with him. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? As it is a friend of a friend, I would rather pay them the money than someone I do not know but there is the tax implications i.e. me not claiming the costs without receipts.

    Repairs & Maintenance without receipts....

I am going to have some repairs, maintenance and painting done on the IP before a set of tenants moves in. The guy I will be using to do the work does not issue receipts, not because his work is not good (friend of a friend) but I am guessing that cash is better in his particular situation...

    Assertive or rude?

Ha ha - That's not rude at all. I had this guy call my home phone which is a silent number. He was trying to sell me something. I said, can you hang on mate, dinner is on the stove and it's just about to boil over, he said sure.... Nice guy! So I sat back down on the lounge and kept...

    Am I being excessive?

Toon - relax!!! As long as you are asking fair rent for your property, you will get tenants and fair rent. I have had a tenant that has been with me for 4, going on 5 years now and I have increased the rent by 20, 50, 50 and about to be 40 dollars. The first year the PM managing the property...

Minx, I had the error message too and you cannot resubmit online:mad: Apparently ATO are experiencing major issues with the 09/10 software. Contacted ATO yesterday - we need to print it and send by mail asking for it to be processed ASAP - yeah right.... Ash

how here works swings / away often.....

Interesting post... I too find myself wondering the same things. I am in the Air Force and just about to be posted to Victoria for 3 years, leaving behind good mates and friends. I am constantly away from home and as I type this I am in Darwin. It's trips like these that make me want to work...
