Am I the only one to mention the Pilbara ?

For the Hedland market what impact on rent/prices will the new housing and fifo accommodation developments have (including the 6000 fifo camp and 600 homes bhp are building)? Anyone with a crystal ball wishing to share an insight ;) (also First National will do 6.6% mgmt fee + 1 week rent...

Good FP in Perth - or have a crack?

 Well that's definately put it into perspective my understanding of CGT was clearly incorrect, I assumed that the value of the property (eg a bank valuation) once build is complete would be used to determine any future capital gains or losses at sale, not the cost to build? If the latter is...

Good FP in Perth - or have a crack?

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good financial planner in Perth? I found some threads about this but latest was a couple years old, bascially just needing a more educated opinion on where to go from here...I will post details below for anyone wanting to have a crack in...

Lease Hold Block? Can someone explain

I had to read it a few times to see it too, buried about 3/4 in: "Downstairs on the 700sq m Leasehold block there is room to house two cars" My understanding of leasehold (in a very basic way) is that someone else owns the land and you pay a fee every year to continue living on it. There is a...

is my accountant ripping me off?

Hi streetie, Its pretty hard to know if you got a raw deal or not just by looking at the tax you paid, for example if you earnt a cool mill last year paid 33k tax and got tax back then I reckon you should be pretty chuffed with your accountant, on the other hand if you earnt 70k then you...

    A self-induced economic slowdown?

Couldn't agree more, I come from a migrant family (moved here under 'skilled' worker program - dad is an engineer) however the only job he could get when we moved here was as a taxi driver, took him about 5 years of additional study (paid for by himself) before employers starting recognising his...

Resigning at work. What are my rights?

Hi Want2beWealthy, It might be worth giving fair work a call before you hand in your resignation (just dont do it within your bosses earshot ;) ), they will be able to give you advice on your exact entitlements under your award and your other queries. best of luck.

PPOR Stamp Duty, then Move Out

You can contact OSR and seek waiver of the requirement, worth a try but don't expect to get one (just speaking from experience here), or you could not say anything and hope they don't find out, but I wouldn't count on that either....

Where does one sell a concept?

Hi Lizzie, I was looking into the same awhile back (although my idea wasn't close to as evolved as yours!) and from memory if you type "sell idea" into Google a bunch of resources will pop up....can't vouch for any as I never got that far in the process .... Good Luck! :)

Letting tenant know house is on the market

I found out the house I'm currently renting is for sale by seeing it on RE.com ... then last weekend a for sale sign appeared in the front yard and today an 'under offer' sticker...lol  This is the 'wild west' though, sorry I don't know what the correct process would be in NSW.

Buying a tenanted property and wanting to live in it

I don't think this applies if the tenants are on a fixed term lease? If they are on periodic however you can give them notice to move out.

    Recent unpaid rates auctions NSW

I have no issue with it given rates have to go unpaid for many years before council can put up for auction, if there were no repercussions I wouldn't pay my rates either! ;)

    Recent unpaid rates auctions NSW

A couple of months back there was an unpaid rates auction in the Blue Mountains and a few weeks after one in Port Stephens - I popped in to the BM one but by the auction day any of the good lots (IMO) had their rates paid and were taken off the sales list, it was my first auction of this type...

    First Home buyers

I made the same mistake but also recently found out that as long as you don't live in the IP then you can still claim FHO on a property you buy later and live in, neat :)

    Spec Home Builder

Hi Chris91 I'll put my vote in also - would be very interested to read your book. :) As for suggestions a good one might be to include info on building on a sloped block as opposed to flat land - ie additional costs involved, other considerations etc. ?
