    Warning- Family Tax Benefit

About 4 years back I registered for the dole, I had bought shares with a 10k loan alittle before that and they had halved in value. When I was filling in the dole forms with them, they put the 5k in shares as assets but not the loan in liabilities. I asked why and they said they didn't...

Hi NewToPI I know there are places like Small Business Incubators and NEIS (New Enterprise Incentive Scheme - for ppl getting unemployment benefits) to help start up businesses but I don't know of any websites like this forum on the subject. It would make a great source of info for...

Hi Geoff, Thanks for the link, the ATO quote really answers both my questions. No deductions prior to starting a business, but ok while engaged in the business if related. Chris

    Under Offer/Under Contract in Qld?

Hi Garry From what i understand it... under offer is just that, an offer and the person can refuse it. I have seen this as just a verbal, which was accepted and then put on paper as under contract. I don't know if it has to be on paper as an offer "officially" or not. I certainly have made...

    Carpentry course not tax deductible?

Hi Dale, Are there any exceptions to that, like if I was to take up renovating houses for a living, then is it a tax deduction as I am learning new skills for that (welding, landscaping, etc). Also what if I did these prior to starting a business renovating houses? so I could show this was...

    One down....

John, Sounds great, could you spare some more details. I was thinking about this area and was wondering if this price was about average for 3 bed houses? How old is the house? What size block? Is that about the normal rental return for the area? I take it BV is brick veneer? Any details...

    Hi Aceyducey and others

Cosmo, I think there is always money to be made if you know what you are doing, eg, know if the buying price is good value, know the costs of renovations and know if that brings a good profit compared to sales in that area. My wife and I have renovated a few houses and it was to improve the...

    a question

I paid special clearance on a cheque 2 wks ago with ANZ, put it in at 10:30am, was fully cleared 3:30pm next day. They did advise if I didn't pay special clearance it was only 3 days anyway but had bills to pay that day so all worked out. Can't see a problem with your situation. Chris

    Removing Paint from Window Frames?

Matt, I guess it depends on how you feel about security, how many windows you have and whether your highset or lowset. I would ask The Strippers if you get the same price regardless if you bring in all the windows or say 5 at a time. Then board the window holes with some ply until they come...

Line of Credit extension for IP?

Hi MP, You said "How would this be possible when the LOC will then include the PPoR and the IP together as one?" I don't think you should increase your PPOR LOC to include an IP. I have asked alot of ppl regarding increasing my LOC just for the deposit of an IP, then getting a separate IP...
